Facial Cupping
(soft silicone cupping)
Cupping is ancient practice which has been around for centuries in Chinese, Tibetan, Vietnamese, Japanese and Native American healing traditions. In current times, we have seen cupping therapy popularised by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jennifer Aniston and athletes such as Michael Phelps, who claim that cupping has helped to soothe sore muscles and/or manage chronic pain. Media articles feature images of these figures with red, circular bruises over their bodies – however, you will be relieved to know that this is very different from the gentle application of soft silicone cups used in Facial Cupping!
I am privileged to have trained in Facial Cupping with the renowned, Ziggie Bergman – therapist to the stars! Ziggie has devised a unique method of Facial Cupping using soft silicone cups applied to the face and upper body in a series of gentle, specialised movements, without causing bruising.
Facial Cupping is an incredibly relaxing treatment and at the same time works to relax the fascia, tone the facial muscles and increase blood flow. The specialised techniques used help to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which plump and tighten the muscle structures of the face. The lymphatic drainage effects of cupping removes puffiness and inflammation and helps to clear the skin.
However, Facial Cupping is so much more than a beauty treatment! Not only does it relax facial tension and provide lymphatic drainage, it can also be helpful in the management of a wide range of physical conditions.

What happens at a Facial Cupping treatment?
Your first session will include a consultation to establish your past and present health, diet and lifestyle. This consultation is an essential part of your treatment as it allows me to find out about any health problems you may have and design a treatment plan tailor-made to address your specific needs. The consultation will take around 15-30 minutes. There is no charge for consultation.
Facial Cupping can be enjoyed as either a standalone treatment of 55 minutes, or a shorter 20 minute cupping sequence can be added to any Facial Reflexology or Zone Face Lift treatment.
A full Facial Cupping treatment (55 minutes) includes:
- A relaxing massage to the neck, shoulders, head and scalp, incorporating a range of restorative Swedish Massage and Indian Head Massage techniques
- Pampering hot towels to the face
- A facial massage and a shorter version of the full Facial Reflexology sequence
- The Facial Cupping sequence, tailored to your needs
During the session, I will apply the soft silicone cups to your face, neck, chest and shoulders, in a series of specialised movements. Facial Cupping can be adapted to the client’s unique needs, whether that be addressing problem areas, supporting lymphatic drainage or to help in managing a condition.
Facial Cupping is carried out with the client reclined on a special therapy couch. As the treatment includes a gentle massage to the neck and shoulders, you will be asked to remove your top, and women will need to lower any bra straps. You will be offered a towelling robe to wear if preferred. I will also provide a cosy blanket so that you are warm and comfortable for your session.
I will use a range of high quality organic oils and creams during the session. Please contact me if you would like to discuss the products used – please note that I can adapt the products to accommodate any allergies/preferences or contraindications.
How will you feel after a treatment?
Most people feel extremely relaxed after a session. Others feel energised and uplifted. Most clients claim a marked improvement in their presenting conditions, as well as their general health and wellbeing, including energy levels, quality of sleep and stress levels, with continued improvement after subsequent sessions.
Clients regularly remark on how different their skin looks and feels after a Facial Cupping session – the skin is often noticeably glowing and feels “tighter”.

Please note that due to advertising standards regulations, therapists are restricted in the claims they can make for the treatment. Practitioners cannot diagnose or offer a ‘cure’. Nor can they claim that the treatment ‘can’ or ‘will’ benefit a client. Regulations also prevent practitioners advertising that Facial Cupping will help specific, named medical conditions, hence only general conditions are referenced above.
However, many clients claim very positive and dramatic improvements following treatment. Please see my client testimonials for a selection of comments from current and past clients.
